FDA (Food and Drug Administration) is the United States Food and Drug Administration, an agency under the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, one of the federal executive departments.
The Food and Drug Administration is the oldest consumer protection agency in the U.S. Passing the FDA inspection involves meeting the highest number of safety criteria applied to food products and cosmetics.
The mission of the Food and Drug Administration includes:
- Responsibility for protecting public health,
- Ensuring the safety and effectiveness of drugs, veterinary medications, biological products, and medical devices,
- Ensuring the safety of food products and cosmetics.
FDA ensures food safety by analyzing food samples for various hazardous substances, such as pesticides, radionuclides, chemical additives, and more. Additionally, FDA monitors the accuracy of information on food product labels.
